ProsthetiKa Haiti Running Strong

Work continues and progresses at the Haiti workshop under the capable hands of Pierre, Rejouis, Gary, and Noel who have now been working at the workshop for over a year. ProsthetiKa continues to provide financial support and training.

Back From Haiti

Much has happened since the last blog entry. We have sent our second team to Haiti. The containers arrived in perfect condition and are on the cement pad on the campus of Adventist Hospital in Port au Prince. We got the workshop up and running and begin fitting prostheses. We recruited a Haitian prosthetist and are recruiting another head prosthetist/instructor and two trainees. Our next group is heading to Haiti in a week.

Month 3 of containers in customs

In spite of  the efforts of cargo transport agencies, hospital administrators, friends of people in high places, etc, etc, the containers remain mired in paperwork at the border.  As for the ProsthetiKa team, "our bags are packed, we’re ready to go"……. as soon as the containers are released.

Garrett Hurley leads teams to Mexico and Haiti in March, 2012

Garrett Hurley, CPO recently finsihed back to back ProsthetiKa trips to PROJIMO, Mexico and then Haiti. He was team leader and reports that both projects were successful. Garrett Hurley, CPO just finished back to back trips to PROJIMO in Mexico and then ProsthetiKa/Haiti. He led teams in each project and rported that both went smoothly and very effectively.

ProsthetiKa Haiti in 2012

The latest addition to ProsthetiKa Haiti  is the permanent steel canopy over the entire area to keep the sun and rain of the workers and the clients, improving working conditions dramatically. Left and right are the two workshop buildings. Directly ahead is the therapy room for gait training and physical therapy.
